Doctor Who: "The Hungry Earth" / "Cold Blood"

Spoilers. )

Now, I haven't seen the next few episodes because my DVR randomly decided not to record them (thank goodness they're re-airing on Sunday) and I haven't downloaded the finale yet, but I have seen a few potentially spoilery icons. I suspect I know what's going to happen, but please don't tell me anyway.

Warehouse 13: "Time Will Tell"

Josh and I have been fans of Warehouse 13 from the start. Someone described it as the perfect blend of Doctor Who and The X-Files and they were absolutely right. Plus I love that you have to be a geek to really GET the show. The writers are constantly alluding to literature or history or science. I guess I don't have much to say about the season premiere specifically, other than I just watched it this afternoon and it was awesome. Glad to have you back, show.

Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman: "Is There a Creator?"

I've only watched the first episode so far, but I thought it was pretty interesting (though perhaps not entirely based on science). I liked the guy who induced a "God Experience" using magnets and the subject's temporal lobe. He postulated that humans, as soon as they evolved a sense of their own mortality, needed to believe in an eternal force to counteract their own anxiety. I'm explaining this badly, but it was cool. Plus, I'd watch just about anything that's narrated by Morgan Freeman. He's got such a great voice.

Have you seen anything good lately?

I've been adding new people to my friends list lately and I'm pretty bad about remembering to comment and let these people know that I'm not a serial killer, so hello! I'm Lisa. I'm boring, but normal. I live in an apartment with my fiancé. We got engaged last November and we're not getting married for at least three or four more years. I go to bed around 9:30 most nights because my job requires that I get up very early in the morning. This makes me feel like my grandmother. I don't read books nearly as often as I'd like. I don't post here nearly as often as I'd like. But I definitely exercise exactly as often as I'd like... which is pretty much never. I can handle the diet part just fine, but exercise remains beyond me.

In related news, I've decided to go un-friends-only for a while. I don't really post about anything super personal any more, since I lead a pretty dull, domestic life these days, and I've been looking to expand my current friends list. I feel like I need new people to communicate with. I get pretty lonely sometimes, since I moved down here (besides my lovely fiancé, I have coworkers and I have my fiancé's friends, but I don't have any of my own friends and sometimes that makes me really sad) so it would be nice to have more friends who live inside of my computer.

Independence Day weekend was uneventful. I missed getting drunk and blowing things up with [info]insidemymaze and the gang. We did get a pretty good fireworks show from the apartment last night, which at least made it actually feel like a holiday. Then I had to work this morning, but only for six hours and I got paid for fourteen. What fun things did you do?

For now, this journal is serving as merely a placeholder. Y'know, just in case. Also, I'm using it to follow various people and communities that have foresaken LiveJournal because it sucks.
